GoDaddy Studio (Formerly Over): My Favorite Design App

When I first discovered Over, I was blown away! I thought to myself, ‘how doesn’t everyone know about this amazing app?!’ After checking out the free version, I quickly signed up for the Pro Membership ($14.99 a month) to gain access to every feature and immediately fell in love.

During a typical week, I am on the go and not always by my computer, so when I have an urge of inspiration or a fresh idea pops into my head - instead of jotting down the idea in my notes app, I am able to quickly design something right from my iPhone. I can honestly say, not a day goes by that I don’t utilize the app!

Recently, Over launched their #OverAmbassador program and I was selected to be a part of the initial group of power users! (This is not a sponsored post and all thoughts are my own) I couldn’t have been more excited to be a promoter of the app! What are my favorite app features? Let me count the ways!

Here are six of my favorite features:

1 - The millions of graphics, vectors, illustrations, patterns and more! Over’s team actually handles the personal and commercial use licenses for all fonts and graphics, which is great. The commercial use license covers end products that are for sale up to 400 times. This means, customers can use them without worrying about copyright issues.

2 - FONTS! My true love! There are hundreds of fonts available to use within the app. Anything from your classic serif and clean sans serif to the delicate script and hand-drawn font. As a collector of fonts, this is an exciting perk. In addition to what’s currently available in the app, you have the ability to upload any font that you own. Talk about keeping your design materials “on-brand!”

3 - Exporting - you can export a PNG, multiple sizes of a JPG and a print-ready PDF! Talk about accessibility - this is very convenient. Above is an example of a candle label that I completely designed within the app and exported a ready-to-print PDF file for my client.

4 - Moodboarding - a favorite past-time. Every brand project that I start begins with a moodboard. I ask each client to put together a visual inspiration board filled with images that showcase their ideal brand aesthetic, typography, feeling and colors. I then review, source additional images and curate the final moodboard. Over makes this easy!

5 - Keeping with the theme of time-saving - Over has an in-app scheduler for Instagram and Facebook. All you need to do is create your post, click the export button (top right) and select the blue icon in the middle to schedule. Simply select what social platform you would like to post to, add a caption and click next to select the time you want the post to go live. Easy as 1, 2, 3!

6 - In a pinch? There are tons of pre-made templates for all types of social media: Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, Etsy, Snapchat, and more. Looking to run a flash sale and need a nice instagram post and story template, but have no time? Search in the template folder and choose from any of the editable templates and you’re on your way.
